The Institut pour la photographie presents EN QUÊTE, its second series of exhibitions at its future location before it closes for renovations. Ten new exhibitions centered on the theme of photographic investigation reveal how photography helps foster a different perspective on current events, history, or even a specific region.

The Exhibition Masquerades and Carnivals , developed in collaboration with the International Museum of Carnival and Masks in Binche and Château Coquelle in Dunkirk, brings together works by ten contemporary artists and photographers to offer a new perspective on these traditional rituals on a European scale. Special attention is given to Carnival in our region with the exhibition Reasons created by students at the University of Lille, exploring the concept of archives.

The presentation of Chaplin and The Dictator, a production in partnership with Les Rencontres d’Arles, offers a visual retrospective of the filming of Charlie Chaplin’s biggest box-office hit to mark the 80th anniversary of the film’s release.

This new series of exhibitions also highlights the work carried out by the Institut pour la photographie in the region and reaffirms its support for contemporary art through an exhibition by the international agency MAPS, the presentation of photographer Frédéric Cornu’s latest series, and the open commissions granted to regional photography organizations: the CRP/ in Douchy-les-Mines, Diaphane in Clermont-de-l’Oise, and Destin Sensible in Mons-en-Barœul. The public is also invited to participate in If I were... , the Institut pour la photographie’s first participatory exhibition, created in collaboration with the Wipplay platform.

Through this new program of exhibitions, events, and workshops, the Institut pour la photographie offers a glimpse into its evolving project and its broad scope of experimentation, highlighting the pivotal role of photography in how we represent and perceive the world.
