Invited by the City of Lambersart to present an exhibition at the Colysée—which is dedicating its fall program to women— The Institut pour la photographie has developed a project that brings together a selection of photographs by eight winners of the “Grande Commande Photojournalisme,” funded by the Ministry of Culture and organized by the BnF.

Bringing together several photographers from the Hauts-de-France region, this exhibition explores certain issues related to the region and paints a kaleidoscopic portrait of women in today’s France, both on a personal level (with being and Becoming a Local Girl by Cédric Calandraud on the construction of femininity in rural settings), as well as professional (through Etchings , a project by Julie Bourges on women fishermen, and at home , a series by Olivia Gay on caregiving and home-care jobs, which are primarily held by women), but also societal (with Open Fists by Anouk Desury, about Shaïna, a young woman from Roubaix who has chosen to pursue a career as a boxer, Stayin’ Alive by Julie Glassberg on tea dances for seniors, or Women from Elsewhere, Here by Aimée Thirion, which explores exile from a woman’s perspective), or even social (with Ulrich Lebeuf’s project, Isabelle, Amandine, and Matthew , which chronicles the precarious life of a mother and her daughter, originally from the Somme region, who moved to Gien, and Heroines 17 by Anaïs Oudart, which illustrates the precarious situation of young people experiencing family breakdown in the Seine-Saint-Denis department).
