Since 2024, the Institut pour la photographie has been organizing photography workshops with men incarcerated at the Douai Detention Center.
Since 2024, a partnership with the Douai Detention Center has made it possible to organize a series of hands-on workshops, inviting participants to experiment with alternative, artisanal methods of creating photographic images.
through the practice of pinhole photography, the Afghan Box, and cyanotype, they discovered that the images we create do not always match the results we expect. They thus explored the concepts of success and expectation, learning to embrace and perceive the unexpected. This openness also served as a gateway to each person’s imagination and creativity.
The project also included a cultural outing as part of the exhibition's program Room 207. During this event, the inmates met with Jean-Michel André and participated in a workshop on creating dioramas.
These workshops are developed with the support of the DRAC Hauts-de-France.
