Lucie Pastureau

Lucie Pastureau was born in 1982. A 2008 graduate of ENSAD Paris, where she received honors, Lucie Pastureau has lived and worked in Lille since 2013. She creates intimate and sensitive work and carries out projects through artist residencies or commissions. 

Her work centers on family imagery and the small, everyday details, with the aim of mapping out an intimate portrait of a place, a group, or an individual. She has a particular interest in amateur photography and what it can reveal when scrutinized: the emergence of a moment of awkwardness, a distinctive gesture, an atmosphere, unique qualities, or—on the contrary—stereotypical forms. 

She is interested in periods of transition, which lead to imbalance and a shift from one state to another. Adolescence, leaving the family nest, and the healthcare setting—these are, now as ever, a constant back-and-forth between different, fairly closed-off worlds, into which one must find a way to break through. 

She has exhibited at various institutions in France and Europe, such as the Charleroi Museum of Photography, the Kunsthaus in Essen, and the festival Circulation(s) at CENTQUATRE-PARIS, the festival Cargo in Saint-Nazaire or even the Photo Festival from Saint-Brieuc.
His series Luminescence , conducted at the Adolescent Health Unit of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul Hospital in Lille, with support from the Hauts-de-France Regional Directorate for Cultural Affairs (DRAC), received the Award Fisheye in 2018 and was the subject of a book published by Hartpon in 2021.
In 2008, Lucie Pastureau founded the Faux Amis collective with her colleagues Lionel Pralus and Hortense Vinet, and joined the Hans Lucas agency in 2011. Since then, she has collaborated regularly with national media outlets such as Le Monde , Liberation or Le Nouvel Obs .
