Émilie Goudal

Professor and Researcher

Émilie Goudal is a professor and researcher—holding the "Cultures, Societies, and Practices in Transition" chair—at the Center for the Study of Contemporary Arts (CEAC) at the University of Lille.

She is the author of the book The Damned of History: Visual Arts and the Algerian War (Presses du réel, 2019). Her work focuses on the intersections between contemporary art, politics, and issues of memory (Germany, Algeria, the United States, France), as well as on the concept of Aesthesis of emancipation within the context of decolonization. 

In particular, they have been published in the following journals: Perspective , Art Critic or Aware as well as in various exhibition catalogs and anthologies.
