This winter will never end
The winter of 2025–2026 in Ukraine turned out to be a seemingly endless ordeal.
I began working on this project quite by chance when, due to a series of circumstances, I was forced to move to Sumy—a Ukrainian city on the front lines of the war—during what was the most difficult and painful period of my life.
The Series This Winter Will Never End depicts daily life, which tries to carry on despite the constant threat. The photographs were taken between December 2025 and March 2026.
As part of my work, I not only spend hours observing how people interact with the city, but I also try to interact with them.
The ethical principles of documentary photography are extremely important. This project is therefore not about “ to witness the suffering of others ", but rather to carry out work based on respect for the subject and non-interference in their personal space.
The goal is to show the war as I see it from the inside, not as the foreign media expect to see it.
