The Blue Jaguar examines anthropogenic soils of pre-Columbian origin in the Brazilian Amazon: the terra preta , a body of work that debunks the colonial myth of an untouched wilderness and reveals the Amazon rainforest as a garden tended using the advanced agricultural techniques of Native American peoples.
The terra preta becomes here a speculative figure for an (a)symmetrical anthropology between the peoples of the forest , those who cultivate and maintain this land, and the people of the laboratories , namely the scientists who study it using their vision systems.
