ENSP STUDY DAY

Research, Teaching, and Creativity

In the presence of Grégory Chatonsky, Sarah Ritter, and Ana Vaz, the recipients of our 2021 Fellowship.

This half-day event, organized as part of the 40th anniversary of the École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles, brings together artists, teachers, and researchers to discuss issues surrounding the interplay between art education, professional development, the economy, and the politics of images.

Can art be passed on or taught? Is pedagogy merely a methodology, or is it also a worldview? What is the relationship between art, research, and artistic production? Or between art, professionalization, power, and money? Can we still say that art is a realm of freedom? But then, for whom? And what role is left for the viewer? How can we identify it? You are here… or not?
