Artist and filmmaker

Ana Vaz is a Brazilian artist and filmmaker born in 1986 in Brasília.

His filmography is based on experimental collages of found and produced images and sounds, used to reflect on situations and contexts—both historical and geographical—marked by narratives of violence and repression.


The impact of colonialism and ecological ruin serve as the backdrop for her immersive “poetic films.” As an extension or consequence of his films, his practice may also take the form of writing, critical pedagogy, installations, film programs, or ephemeral events. His films have been screened and discussed at film festivals, seminars, and institutions such as the  Tate Modern , the  Palais de Tokyo , the  Jeu de Paume , the  Centre Pompidou LUX Moving Images New York Film Festival Berlinale Forum Expanded BFI Cinéma du Réel Courtesan
