L'ombre de la terre ("The Shadow of the Earth")

Sarah Ritter presents her new project focusing on land and seabed resources, with a particular emphasis on mining. 

While photography has contributed to the effort to reduce the world to a calculable, quantifiable, homogeneous, and undifferentiated space, Sarah Ritter engages with the medium—from the appropriation of photographic archives to on-site photography—through an approach that is both critical and dreamlike.

This exhibition offers an opportunity to view a selection of items from the National Archives of the World of Work that inspired the artist for this new project. His evocative series of images transport us into different worlds—from the depths of the Earth to the skies—to reveal the impact of human exploitation of the Earth on our environment.
