DIARY & Dear DIARY, 2014–2020

My DIARY’s are among my first successful photography projects.

They tend to gravitate toward a less academic format than the traditional photo series: that of a personal journal.

These dense projects encapsulate three years of life with DIARY from 2014 to 2017 and beyond, Dear DIARY covering the next three years.

Keeping a diary means writing. Writing because it leaves a trace.

Not a trace of a memory or a recollection of a moment (as photography is bound to be by its historical nature), but a trace of sensations. More organic and personal—that is how these images are best interpreted.

At the very moment the shutter is released, it captures the final, sensational image, forever imprinted on the light-sensitive surface. That is how these DIARY … are built around romanticized scenes of everyday life, sensuality, and pure intimacy.

With a free composition that is nonetheless intended to be structured and orderly, my DIARY my works feature unique images that, at first glance, stand on their own; it is only when viewed side by side that another story unfolds in the viewer’s mind. Yet my images seek to forge a connection with myself—like a diary, a sensitive portrayal of my own personal story.
