Abrazo de Gol Collective
Biography
Collectif Abrazo de Gol
The Project Urban Identities on Display explores the walls of images in stores and semi-public spaces in the Château Rouge and Goutte d’Or neighborhoods of Paris, and in the Wazemmes and Moulins neighborhoods of Lille—dynamic neighborhoods steeped in a rich Afro-Maghrebi historical heritage.
The project examines the construction of meaning through an analysis of the vernacular uses and practices observed in these spaces. By documenting the urban present, this work aims to provide a broader understanding of the diverse visual cultures in contemporary French society.
through photographs, videos, and on-site conversations, this project demonstrates that these walls of images serve not only as an aesthetic backdrop but also function as powerful visual signifiers, defining transcultural identities. These images, shaped by the migration of images and affective practices, contribute to reshaping the preservation of culture.
