"Présents," a major photo exhibition by La Conserverie

From December 19, 2025, through March 31, 2027, The Canning Factory is organizing a major collection of vernacular photographs to mark the celebration of the The Bicentennial of Photography , which will be the subject of a two-volume book and presentations in the form of screenings or exhibitions.

Title Present , this project takes "photography within photography" as its starting point.
He invites you to rummage through your personal archives to find images in which other photographs—whether hidden discreetly or not—are tucked away.

Taking part in this project couldn't be easier!
Bring your photos (that feature other photos) on September 12 and 13, 2026, to the Saint Sauveur Station during Say Cheeeese!: the La Conserverie team will scan them on-site in Hall B.

You’ll also have the opportunity to view, through September 27, a screening of the images collected during the first phase of the project.

“This call for submissions pays tribute to photography—the act of taking a photograph, then preserving it, then viewing it, loving it, savoring it, and, here, photographing it. Photography as an object, as a tangible, sensory entity; photography in a new present. From the image passed from hand to hand during a meal, to the one pinned to a refrigerator, placed on a desk in front of which a child poses, to the one deliberately displayed as a representation of the absent; photographs, sometimes rephotographed by chance. These photographs that we know exist within each of us. They were taken so long ago, or almost the day before yesterday; they may have great aesthetic quality or not really, but without a doubt, they represent one facet of the relationship we have with photography. ”
