FALC Booklets
Since 2024, the Institute has been committed to developing “Easy to Read and Understand” booklets—based on the FALC method—as part of its various exhibitions.
The FALC method - Easy to read and understand—makes documents accessible to people who have difficulty understanding them, including those with intellectual disabilities.
This method establishes a number of rules that must be followed for a document to be considered easy to read and understand. The first of these rules is that people with intellectual disabilities must participate in writing, transcribing, and/or proofreading the document. This ensures that the information is accessible. The “easy to read and understand” approach is an inclusive one.
FALC Rules these are common-sense guidelines that apply to both content and form: use simple, jargon-free vocabulary; simple syntax; short sentences; legible fonts; a spacious layout; and illustrations whenever possible. These guidelines are intended to help people make the information they produce easy to read and understand.
