As part of the PEPS—a program focused on education, hands-on experience, and awareness—the apprentices in the photography program at the CMA inVirolois in Tourcoing were guided by the Institut pour la photographie and photographer Hugo Clarence Janody through the stages of creating a project centered on the concept of territory.
The Project
The project provided an opportunity for these apprentices—who are already receiving technical and theoretical training in photography as part of their curriculum—to develop a thoughtful approach to a subject that resonates with them.
First, the students were invited to reflect on their own practice and their relationship with the local area; they were then guided through every stage of their project: writing the project proposal, production, editing, and designing an exhibition.
The result is five proposals, five forms of expression, and five different ways of exploring the territory.
