Jean Moulin Middle School / Martha Desrumeaux Middle School

Whileself-portraits are commonly associated with the visibility of the face, students from two middle schools in the Lille metropolitan area attempted to express themselves by experimenting with the constraint of a masked or non-visible face. 

through a photographic exchange between these two classes, each student shared a little bit of themselves. By experimenting with different photographic techniques and styles, theyeach created and then shared a portrait that represented them in a different way. 

This exchange then gave rise to a series of diptychs—like so many visual encounters between them.
