Camille Froidevaux-Metterie

Camille Froidevaux-Metterie is a feminist philosopher, professor of political science, and equality and diversity coordinator at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne. 

Her research focuses on the changes in the status of women following the shift toward feminist emancipation. She approaches these changes from a phenomenological perspective that places the body at the center of her analysis. 

After Women's Bodies: The Battle Over Intimacy (2018),  a book in which she  documented this movement of women reclaiming their bodies—which she calls the “genital turn in feminism”— she published a new book in March 2020, Breasts: In Search of Liberation (Anamosa), which presents the results of a sociological-photographic study conducted with about forty women interviewed through the lens of their breasts. At the same time, The Feminine Revolution , a seminal work embodying her feminist philosophy published in 2015 by Gallimard, has been reissued in paperback with a new preface (Folio Essais). In 2021, she published A Body of One's Own published by Éditions du Seuil.
