Alejandro León Cannock

Professor and Researcher

He holds a Ph. D. In artistic research from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles and the University of Aix-Marseille (AMU), and currently teaches at the University of Aix-Marseille.

Her current research explores the strategies employed by contemporary artistic practice—particularly in the field of photography—to challenge extractivist thinking, while proposing an ecosophical ethos. 

As curator of the Peruvian Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Art Biennale, he also curated *Barbara Brändli: The Poetics of Gesture, The Politics of the Document* (PhotoEspaña 2024) and *Seeing by Contact: Photograms 2014–2024, and notably published *Seeing / Knowing: Photographic Practice as Artistic Research* (*Marges: Journal of Contemporary Art*, 2024).
