PERSPECTIVES: Here and Now - Future Perfect

Throughout the school year, twelve 7th-grade students from Boris Vian Middle School in Croix, accompanied by photographers Jean-Michel André and Lionel Pralus, used photography to explore their immediate surroundings: the route they take to school every morning. 

Working with Jean-Michel André, the students explored the geography and history of the town of Croix through a documentary approach to photography, which they experimented with during location scouting and photo shoots in the neighborhood.

Lionel Pralus then invited the students to take archival photographs of the city and reinterpret them using various techniques and processes—ranging from view cameras to GIF animations—in order to create images in which the past, present, and future become inseparable.
