AFRICA PHOTO DAY 2020

The Institut pour la photographie is inviting Africa in visu to host a day of discussions focused on photography collectives from the African continent.

DAY 1 at the Institut pour la photographie and online 
Afrique in visu is a living archive and documentation platform focused on changes in photographic practices in Africa and among the continent’s diaspora. 
No ranking, nor any attempt to claim the existence of a history of African photography. These are the many stories of a continent, told through interviews and essays on visual artists who seek to renew narratives and imaginaries. A resource for researchers, authors, curators, and the general public—one whose value grows over time. 
Launched in 2006 in Mali by Jeanne Mercier and Baptiste de Ville d’Avray, Afrique in visu has published more than 1,200 articles, works with about 100 contributors worldwide, organized numerous exhibitions in Europe and Africa, conducted photography training workshops, and supported some 15 photography projects…
The Afrique in visu project became a nonprofit organization under the French Law of 1901 on July 3, 2007.
