Ekhô (2022–)

Ekhô is a series consisting of prints, installations, and objects related to the landscape.

Something that reproduces or recalls something else—a trace, a mark.

Dimensions and scales of observation range from the horizon to the microscope, and the spatial arrangement guides our gaze, from the farthest to the closest points of the material.

Julie Calbert pursues an approach unique to her work: photographic cultivation.

The colors—whether chosen or accidental—evoke the periodic table with its golds, silvers, methylene blue, oxidized greens, and charcoal blacks. From scientific iconography, she borrows the classification into plates, sections, and prints, then arranges her images in series to highlight both their periodicity and their chemical properties.

In Ancient Greek êkhéô (“ where does the echo come from? ”) means both to make noise and to resonate; it literally means “to produce a sound.”&Here, Julie Calbert pierces through the surface to reveal a fragmented landscape that hums, oscillates, and roars in silence, much like the female silhouettes that punctuate her series.
