The Project

The 8th-grade history and geography curriculum includes the topic of transnational human mobility. The idea behind this photography project was to explore each student’s origins and identify the migration patterns of each family.
As they reflected on their origins and how they impact their lives,&the students created displays of personal objects that connect them to their origins. After photographing their objects, theycreated a photo film combining archival and contemporary photographs to tell the stories of their respective families’ journeys.
