The Project

Is a photograph of oneself—in which one’s face isn’t visible—a self-portrait? That’s the question the students in this 9th-grade class asked themselves.
They reflected on their unique qualities, their personalities, and their hobbies, and imagined a way to expressthese elements into a self-portrait, using various techniques, lighting, and objects.
With their French teacher, they wrote texts to accompany their images, which were compiled into a small publication.
