Culture Class 2021

The Project Cabins was developed as part of the “Classe Culture” program, launched by the City of Lille’s Global Education Project and the Institut pour la photographie in 2020. Each year, the program hosts a class from a Lille elementary school at the Institut pour la photographie for one week.

This year, the Institut pour la photographie in Lille welcomed fifth-grade students from the Chénier-Séverine School and their teacher, Nikita Malik. They explored the Institut and created images and an exhibition with the multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker Benoît Labourdette.   Together, they engaged in a series of workshops, including hands-on photography sessions, a book-making workshop, a photo-collage workshop, and a scenography workshop. 

That meeting gave rise to the project Cabins , focusing on the theme of nature in urban settings. Their group exhibition is titled Guess .
