Photographer and researcher
Born in 1996 in Lorient, Simon Bouillère is a French photographer based in Arles. He earned a master’s degree in History in 2019 before graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure de Photographie d’Arles in 2024.
Her work focuses primarily on the relationships individuals have with their territory, through practices drawn from alternative or popular cultures. His keen eye allows him to offer a sensitive perspective, particularly on issues of group identity and masculinity. His practice is characterized by a meticulous approach to research, an immersive engagement with his subjects, and a strong emphasis on silver-based printing and editorial presentation.
He has participated in several photography festivals—Circulation(s), Planches Contact, and PhotoSaintGermain, and was the recipient of the Young Artist Award at the Planches Contact Festival, as well as the “Bords de mer” commission for the Marseille Photography Center. Two of his projects have been published in self-published books, and some have appeared in L’Équipe magazine as well as in *New South*, the journal of the Atlanta Center for Photography.
