Sarah Van Melick
Visual artist and researcher
Based in the Hauts-de-France region, Sarah Van Melick holds a DNSEP and a master’s degree in Practices and Research in the Plastic and Visual Arts.
Her work explores the concepts of cultural hybridity and history through mediums such as printmaking, photography, writing, sculpture, and installation, weaving connections between encounters, languages, memories, and materials.
She examines postcolonial history through the lens of historical archives, migration narratives, and diaspora narratives.
Through her research, which draws inspiration from the real world, the artist gives voice to the stories, objects, and archives of different cultures, elevating them through visual, poetic, and reflective works.
Sarah Van Melick is affiliated with La Condition Publique in Roubaix; she also receives support from La Malterie in Lille.
