Sarah Feuillas

Born in Paris in 1987, Sarah Feuillas graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 2011; that same year, she received the Bernar Venet Sculpture Prize awarded by the Amis des Beaux-Arts. 

She participated in an exchange program at Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku in Japan in 2010 and honed her glassblowing skills in Palestine in 2013 and later at the Trélon Glass Museum for the exhibition at the Frac Grand Large in 2017. 

In 2018, she was in residence in the United States as part of the Eden-Sylvain Couzinet-Jacques residency program following the “Jeune Création” exhibition at Thaddaeus Ropac in Pantin, then in Paris at the Collège des Bernardins with the //DEVENIR// project, in Rome with Atelier Wicar in collaboration with the City of Lille, in Aix-les-Bains with the Solarium tournant residency project, in Iran with Kooshk, and at the Flaine Art Center in Haute-Savoie.

Recently, his work has been on display at the Kunstencentrum Ten Bogaerdlaan in Koksijde (BE) as part of the “in de steigers” exhibition and is included in the exhibition “Some of Us—an overview of the French art scene” at Carlshütte in Germany.

With a keen sensitivity to the perception of space and the environment, she creates photographic and sculptural works centered on the home and the act of building.

She creates photographic series of buildings located in sensitive areas. Borders, conflict zones, ruins—these series evoke the architectural context and its aesthetics. These places are often the scars of a project that is no longer relevant. Unfinished and abandoned, they stretch out into an indefinite span of time. All that remains of them is the remnant of a man-made city whose utopian vision still lingers.
