Richie Lem

Based in Lille, Richie Lem has a particular interest in local and humorous photography.

The project focuses on the workers' cafés in the Lille metropolitan area, venues that epitomize the region's industrial heyday and still play a significant role in social interaction today, despite a large number of closures due to the aging clientele and the decline in the number of factories. 

Many have retained their period aesthetic and maintained their own distinct identity, defying current trends toward uniformity—an aesthetic to which the series also pays homage.
