Olivia Arthur

Born in London in 1980, Olivia Arthur is an internationally renowned British documentary photographer and a member of the Magnum agency.

Her work explores issues of identity and gender, as well as memory, often through the lens of intimacy and human relationships.

A graduate of the University of Oxford who later trained in photojournalism in London, she began her career in India before traveling the world to work on long-term projects. She is the author of several books, including Jeddah Diary (2012) on young women in Saudi Arabia, and Stranger (2015).

Known for her mastery of alternative mediums such as collage, she uses photography to bring complex narratives to light. As a co-founder of the space Fishbar in London, she developed expertise in the field of publishing, which is particularly reflected in her first photo book aimed at young readers, Lee and the Sea Things.
