Photographer and visual artist
Michela Cane was born in a small village in the Italian Alps.
She is a photographer and visual artist based between Brussels and Helsinki. Her practice spans video, photography, and installation. Rooted in documentary and informed by personal relationships and narratives, she explores the boundary between the intimate and the threatening, between evidence and ambiguity. She examines perceptions, social misinterpretations, and closed communities, using documentary tools and performative gestures to reveal, question, and sometimes denounce.
Since 2024, her works have been exhibited in Belgium and abroad, notably at the Museum of Photography in Charleroi, the House of European History, Hangar, the Jacques Franck Museum, and the A Stichting Foundation. Her series *Goede Schot* was published in *Médor* magazine and by the National Heritage Institute. A graduate of the photography program at ENSAV La Cambre, she is continuing her research in the Department of Photography at Aalto University in Finland.
