Lucas Castel is based in Brussels.
During his studies at the Le Septantecinq art school, he developed an interest in energy production in Europe. During and after his studies, he created various photographic series exploring the presence of energy industries within different regions and their coexistence with pre-existing forms of life.
In recent years, he has had the opportunity to exhibit several of his photographic series in Belgium, France, and Germany, among other places, including through collaborations with the Fetart collective during the Circulation(s) festival and the Nature Future exhibition tour.
In 2024, he received the National Open Photography Prize and the RTBF Prize at the Charleroi Museum of Photography for his new project Pigeon Paradise . In 2025 and 2026, the author will focus, among other things, on artist’s books, with two projects scheduled for publication. Lucas is also a co-founder of La Nombreuse, a collective dedicated to promoting photography in Brussels.
