Laure Vouters

Born in Arras in 1962, Laure Vouters lives and works in Lille. 

After studying art at Saint-Luc Tournai (BE), she spent thirty years as an art director in the communications field. She began working in photography about ten years ago. She was awarded the Sophot Prize in 2018 for Serge and Jacqueline which led to numerous exhibitions and a book. 

Laure Vouters’ photographs embody the ambition that serves as the rallying cry of the modern novel: “to describe the world as it is.” To achieve this, she places us within the realm of the mundane, which has been transformed into enchantment. She infiltrates, invites herself in, all while taking care to erase every trace of her presence, ensuring she remains completely unnoticed. It is this magic of the ordinary that we find in her work Colfontaine: A Sense of Brotherhood , which is currently being prepared for publication.
