Guillaume Cortade

Based in Lille, Guillaume Cortade is a long-form photojournalist; his photographic work focuses on the relationships between people, their activities, and their environment. 

In his personal projects, he emphasizes the local aspect and a film photography approach that fosters a slow, relaxed pace with his subjects.

He has published about ten articles in the regional press in the Hauts-de-France region ( Leopolis Magazine ) and national ( Courrier International, La Vie, Rendez-vous Photo, Ebdo, NEON Magazine ). 

" My work is based on long-term observation of the places I live in and travel through. These places are familiar to me, linked to my childhood or to repeated visits. This connection gradually shapes a personal mythology—a blend of memories, encounters, and lived experiences. In this work, I explore the relationships between landscapes and the forms of life that develop within them, paying close attention to the traces left by human activities. Humans shape their environment to make it more usable, just as the environment itself is shaped by human influence. Rooted in a slow passage of time, my practice is grounded in reality, which I view as a space for exploration. " — Guillaume Cortade
