Dominique Servonnat

Dominique Servonnat, a self-taught photographer, has lived in Lille for many years. 

Trained as a historian and geographer, she approaches photography through this dual lens, without any intention of creating photojournalism—which may seem paradoxical. She seeks out atmospheres, and each photo is a piece of the puzzle that fuels self-reflection.

The photographer initially photographed megacities, driven by an underlying need to feel like a stranger and to experience sensations such as disorientation and loss. Pierre Léotard of Corridor Éléphant published one of her series titled In New York  in the journal Niepcebook 5, followed by a book titled A Day in Tokyo . 

In 2019, Dominique Servonnat joined the association A Sensitive Destiny led by Horric Lingenheld, with whom she is developing a collaborative project in the region: the latest one is titled Shared Images and was featured in an exhibition in Mons-en-Baroeul.   At the same time, the artist is continuing her personal exploration based on the series she is presenting today, titled JEAN . Dominique Servonnat, therefore, focuses on both cultural heritage and family history.
