Bruno Delannoy

Photographer

Bruno Delannoy was born in Lille in 1958.

He took his first photojournalism shots in 1972 and had his work published in the regional press in 1976. As an amateur, he freely chose his subjects, which led to solo exhibitions beginning in 1978.

It wasn’t until 2007, however—during an exhibition in Parma, Italy—that he realized just how powerful his photos are when they consist solely of impromptu portraits. Long before the images of August Sander and Diane Arbus, it was the studio portraits in his mother’s family album that shaped his visual sensibility.

His current project, titled My Family Album was the subject of a feature in www. openeye. fr No. 13.
