Alicia Brouilliard

Photographer

Alicia Brouilliard is a 23-year-old professional photographer and a master's student in visual arts in Lille.

Her practice centers on the relationship between the body and the object—what that relationship implies—as well as textures, particularly those of food. This desire to incorporate food into her portraits and staged scenes is, at first glance, largely unconscious. Alicia Brouilliard may be drawn—perhaps unintentionally—to the various colors and materials of these elements. They offer a different perspective on her work. She also enjoys exploring symbolism and representational codes, which she transforms and reinterprets in her own way. We can find symbolism present in Christian painting, but we also encounter oxymorons, contrasts, and tensions that are quite evident visually. By sowing doubt and prompting questions—in other words, the photographer wants the viewer to question and interpret her choices based on their own sensory experience. Alicia Brouilliard does not seek to make a specific statement, but simply to suggest, in a clear and direct manner.
