The Institut pour la photographie and the Frac Grand Large are teaming up for an evening dedicated to images, light, and sound, centered around the exhibition  Slide/Show . Film Screenings and Contemporary Art in China. The festivities will kick off in the afternoon with a workshop  Camera Obscura   intended for children ages 6 and up  and will continue into the evening with  quick tours of the exhibition and three sessions of the Persistence of the Wave , an audiovisual and sound performance by Pablo Gracias.

 

↘︎ Workshop Camera Obscura 2:00 p. m. To 5:00 p. m. — with David Leleu
Easy to make, a camera obscura (or darkroom) is a device that allows you to view an inverted image of a lit scene or object. David Leleu guides the children as they create their own optical devices, then invites them to pick them up and explore the exhibition Slide/Show: Projections and Contemporary Art in China . A snack will be served during the session.
ages 6 and up. Free with registration 

 

↘︎ Performance The Persistence of the Wave at 6:30 p. m., 7:30 p. m., or 9:00 p. m. — with Pablo Gracias
Three sessions of an audiovisual and sound installation that takes the audience on a sensory journey exploring collective memories associated with water and its evocation. An immersive experience that, through other means, expands upon the exhibition’s exploration of projection and the moving image.
Note: This performance takes place in the dark, with strobe lights and loud music.
Open to the public. Free admission, subject to availability. Duration: approximately 30 minutes

Every half hour between 6:00 p. m. And 9:00 p. m., visitors can enjoy quick tours of the exhibitions on view at the Frac Grand Large:
Slide/Show : 6 p. m., 7 p. m., 8 p. m., and 9 p. m. / MUSEUMS BEYOND BORDERS : 6:30 p. m., 7:30 p. m., 8:30 p. m., and 9:30 p. m.
