Event
On May 25 and 26, 2024, the Institut pour la photographie invites you to celebrate spring at the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine Church in Lille. Over the course of a weekend, come discover the work of 20 photographers, shop for photography gear, curl up in a sound cocoon, or have your portrait taken!

Saturday, May 25
↘︎ 10 a. m. → 6 p. m.: Openfolio #4 – open Portfolio Reviews
Following a call for applications, 20 professional and amateur photographers from the Euroregion were selected to participate in openfolio #4, a two-day portfolio review event. Throughout the weekend, each participant will present their projects to the public, including a 20-minute session with a panel of international photography experts assembled for the occasion.
↘︎ 10 a. m. → 2 p. m.: photo contest
Come take a photo of the one we call the “Big Madeleine”! Grab your camera or phone, take your best shots of the church, and share them on Instagram before 2 p. m., tagging @institutphoto and by adding the hashtag #saycheeeeese . The lucky winners will receive photo books published by the Institute, a membership in La Clique, and some goodies!
↘︎ 11 a. m. → 12 p. m.: Children's workshop (ages 4 and up)
A fun introduction to interpreting photographic images for children and adults alike!
↘︎ 2:30 p. m. → 5:00 p. m.: Afghan box workshop – with Labo 148
Come have your portrait taken! Traditionally used by street photographers who take ID photos for their clients, the Afghan box is a light-tight wooden box that combines a camera and a darkroom. As a counterpoint to the ultra-modern world of digital photography, the Institut pour la photographie invites you to experience photography in a whole new way!
↘︎ 3:00 p. m. & 5:00 p. m.: sound naps – electronic cocoons
The Electronic Cocoon is a concert that envelops you in a bath of sound. It’s a journey that invites you to relax and explore your inner worlds. The soundscape is crafted live using a modular synthesizer and cello, through a 360° audio system. Sit back and relax!

The Institute and the Niépce Lumière Club are pleased to team up for another photography flea market. About fifteen vendors will be offering cameras, film, and vintage and new film photography equipment for sale…
