Nocturne in partnership with Citéphilo
"Photography and Moving Fictions: A Philosophical Stroll at the Institut pour la photographie" by Dork Zabunyan
Late-Night Event in Partnership with Citéphilo and the CEAC ,
“Photographs and Moving Stories: A Philosophical Stroll Through the Institut pour la photographie”
In the presence of Dork Zabunyan , Professor of Film Studies at Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis University, along with Frédéric Gendre, head of the Humanities Library at the University of Lille, and Nathalie Delbard, professor of Visual Arts at the University of Lille and art critic.
True to the tradition—as old as philosophy itself—of thinking while walking, the Institut pour la photographie and Citéphilo invite their audience to explore the exhibitions through a philosophical stroll. Dork Zabunyan, an image theorist and art critic specializing in the relationship between cinema and philosophy, guides us on a stroll exploring the theme “Fiction(s)” through photographs selected from the nine exhibitions on view at the Institut pour la photographie. While the snapshot and/or the static nature of the image are hallmarks of photography, they do not, however, deprive it of its fictional and narrative dimensions.
