CONVERSATIONS

To cap off this year of research, the four recipients of the Institute’s Research and Creation Support Program will take part in a conversation, this Friday, May 28, 2021, in the Institute’s library, with a guest artist or specialist on the theme of the 2020 edition, Photography and the Visual Culture of the Imagination .

Conversations:
Ezio d’Agostino in conversation with Gil Bartholeyns
Ezio d’Agostino, an artist, carried out his project True Faith , a study on the phenomenon of religious image apparitions in Italy, which will be presented at the Institute next October.
Gil Bartholeyns is a historian; he teaches at the University of Lille, where he directs the master's program  Visual Sciences and Culture.   He is currently conducting ethnographic research on a phosphorescent, miraculous statuette in southern Belgium.
 

Véra Léon in conversation with Abigail Solomon-Godeau.
Under the title  Photographer: a masculine noun? A profession that sparks the imagination , historian Véra Léon conducted research on gender in the professions of   photography.
Abigail Solomon-Godeau is an American art historian, critic, and curator; her research focuses primarily on gender , feminism and Visual Culture.
 

Laureline Meizel in conversation with Raphaël Dallaporta.
Laureline Meizel, a historian of photography, has undertaken a research project titled Taming the Depths? Photography, Caving, and Underground Imaginaries .
Raphaël Dallaporta creates photographic work based on specific shooting protocols; he is notably the creator of the installation and its accompanying publication, Chauvet–Pont-d’Arc, The Unappropriable , Éditions Xavier Barral, 2016.
 

David de Beyter in conversation with Pierre Lagrange.
David de Beyter with The Skeptics is leading a project based on an amateur practice derived from scientific ufology, a part of which he presented at the gallery Bacqueville in Lille this winter.
Pierre Lagrange, a sociologist of science and a research associate at the LAHIC Laboratory for the Anthropology and History of Cultural Institutions , is an expert in ufology.
